1 AN ACT concerning housing.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Housing Authorities Act is amended by
5changing Section 4 as follows:
6 (310 ILCS 10/4) (from Ch. 67 1/2, par. 4)
7 Sec. 4. Whenever it shall appear to the the presiding
8officer having appointment authority that a commissioner of a
9Housing Authority is incompetent or guilty of neglect of duty
10or malfeasance, the presiding officer shall require such
11commissioner to appear before the presiding officer or his
12designee to show cause why he should not be removed from
13office. At least fifteen days' written notice of such a hearing
14shall be given to the commissioner whose conduct is in question
15and to all other members of the Authority. At the hearing the
16commissioner may be represented by counsel and may appear
17personally and present such pertinent evidence as he wishes or
18as the presiding officer or his designee may request.
19 If after a hearing the presiding officer determines that a
20commissioner has been incompetent or has been guilty of neglect
21of duty or malfeasance, he shall remove such commissioner from
22the Authority within seven days, and there shall thereupon be
23deemed to be a vacancy of such office.
