Amends the State Police Act. Provides that aggregate appropriations available for sworn State Police officers shall be no less than the total aggregate appropriations made available for salaries for sworn State Police officers for the immediately preceding fiscal year. If the aggregate appropriations are insufficient to meet this requirement, this Section constitutes a continuing appropriation of all amounts necessary, unless changed by law. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The State Police Act is amended by adding |
5 | | Section 8.3 as follows:
|

7 | | Sec. 8.3. Continuing appropriation for State Police. |
8 | | (a) Beginning on and after the effective date of this |
9 | | amendatory Act of the 99th General Assembly, the aggregate |
10 | | appropriations available for salaries of sworn State Police |
11 | | officers from all State funds for each State fiscal year shall |
12 | | be no less than the total aggregate appropriations made |
13 | | available for salaries of sworn State Police officers for the |
14 | | immediately preceding fiscal year. |
15 | | (b) If for any reason the aggregate appropriations made |
16 | | available are insufficient to meet the levels required by |
17 | | subsections (a) of this Section, this Section shall constitute |
18 | | a continuing appropriation of all amounts necessary for these |
19 | | purposes. The General Assembly may appropriate lesser amounts |
20 | | by law.

21 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
22 | | becoming law.
