Bill Title: Amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963. Provides that notwithstanding any other provision of the Code to the contrary, the denial of bail or pretrial release is required if the person is a felon who is charged with a firearm offense.

AN ACT concerning criminal law.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 is
amended by adding Section 110-4.5 as follows:
(725 ILCS 5/110-4.5 new)
Sec. 110-4.5. Denial of bail and pretrial release; firearm
offenses. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Code to
the contrary, the denial of bail or pretrial release is
required if the person is a felon who is charged with a firearm
offense.
