SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marene Hardy-Bates, who passed away on
4December 7, 2012; and
5 WHEREAS, Marene Hardy-Bates was born on October 24, 1954,
6in Grenada, Mississippi; her parents were Irene and Cleodoa
7Miers Sr.; and
8 WHEREAS, Marene Hardy-Bates grew up in Mississippi before
9moving to Joliet in the late 1970s; after moving to Joliet, she
10dabbled in several industries before finding her niche in
11education in the early 1990s; and
12 WHEREAS, Marene Hardy-Bates was a devoted Christian and a
13proud member and vice president of the Lebanon District Nurses;
14and
15 WHEREAS, Marene Hardy-Bates was preceded in death by her
16daughter, Monica LaShun Hardy, and her parents; and
17 WHEREAS, Marene Hardy-Bates is survived by her loving
18husband, Clarence Bates Sr.; her sons, Gregory (Elisha) Hardy
19and Tavaras (Billee) Hardy; her grandchildren, Mariah Hardy,
20Jasmine Hardy, and Ian Hardy; her sister, Louise (Joseph)

1Jones; her brothers, Cleveland Myers and Cleodoa (Shawnaa)
2Miers Jr.; and her many nieces, nephews, stepchildren, cousins,
3other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it
4 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
6her family and friends, the passing of Marene Hardy-Bates; and
7be it further
8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Marene Hardy-Bates as an expression
10of our sympathy.
