| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Michael Joseph "Mike" Mooney, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on April 14, 2015; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Mike Mooney was born in Harvard on November 17, | ||||||
| 6 | 1961 to Walter W. and Margaret M. Mooney; he graduated from | ||||||
| 7 | Harvard High School and joined the United States Marines and | ||||||
| 8 | served for 10 years, retiring as a sergeant; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, After his honorable discharge from the Marine | ||||||
| 10 | Corps, Mike Mooney moved to Duluth in the early 1990s, holding | ||||||
| 11 | a variety of positions until he found his work "home" at the | ||||||
| 12 | Black Woods Group, working at Black Woods, Black Water Lounge, | ||||||
| 13 | and the Greysolon Ballroom; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Mike Mooney enjoyed his Irish heritage, cooking, | ||||||
| 15 | reading, physics, animals, his Marine Corps family, his Black | ||||||
| 16 | Woods family, and spending time with his daughter, Mackenzie, | ||||||
| 17 | whom he loved fiercely; he was an avid fan of the Chicago | ||||||
| 18 | Bears, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Blackhawks, and Notre Dame | ||||||
| 19 | football; he attended St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church | ||||||
| 20 | in Duluth; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Mike Mooney was preceded in death by his father, | ||||||

| 2 | WHEREAS, Mike Mooney is survived by his daughter, Mackenzie | ||||||
| 3 | J. Shelton; his mother, Margaret M. Mooney; his sisters, Helen | ||||||
| 4 | Mooney, Linda (John) Allington, Jean (Todd) Iversen, and | ||||||
| 5 | Maureen Talarico; his nieces and nephews, Ryan, Joe, and | ||||||
| 6 | Marissa Stafford, Jacob and Grant Allington, Jake Iversen, Erin | ||||||
| 7 | (Louis) Arellano, and Isaak Talarico; and his great-niece, Esme | ||||||
| 8 | Arellano; therefore, be it

| 9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 11 | Michael Joseph "Mike" Mooney, and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 12 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 13 | him; and be it further

| 14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
