SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Harley W. Hancock of Moline, who passed
away on April 29, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Harley Hancock was born in Huron, South Dakota to
Austin and Edna Holdsworth Hancock on October 26, 1917; he
married Adele Youngberg in Cambridge on May 22, 1937 and served
in the United States Army during World War II; and
WHEREAS, Harley Hancock was the owner and operator of the
All Service Barber Shop in Moline for 55 years and retired on
January 1, 1995; he was instrumental in starting the barber
union in Moline; and
WHEREAS, Harley Hancock was a member of First Evangelical
Free Church in Moline where he served for many years as a
deacon and usher; he enjoyed cars and loved visiting with
people and had a talent for always remembering their names; and
WHEREAS, Harley Hancock was preceded in death by his wife,
Adele; his brother, Harvey Hancock; and his sisters, Lota Beam
and Dora Wertz; and
WHEREAS, Harley Hancock is survived by his children, Dora

(Kenneth) Rose and James (Diane) Hancock; his grandchildren,
Jill (Nathan) Mather, Erica Erickson, and Austin Hancock; and
his four great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Harley W. Hancock, and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Harley Hancock as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
