2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Victoria "Vicki" Maher of Des Plaines, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on October 17, 2023; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Vicki Maher was born to Hertha and Ruel Babilla | ||||||
6 | in Chicago on January 13, 1941; she graduated from St. James | ||||||
7 | Lutheran School and Luther North High School; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Vicki Maher was a dedicated volunteer in her | ||||||
9 | community, serving as an election judge since 1998, a | ||||||
10 | classroom volunteer in Chicago and area public schools, and a | ||||||
11 | volunteer for the Des Plaines Public Library book sale; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Vicki Maher was an over 50-year member of | ||||||
13 | Immanuel Lutheran Church in Des Plaines, where she was a | ||||||
14 | founding member of the food pantry and ran the Sunday school | ||||||
15 | program for 18 years along with many other programs; and

16 | WHEREAS, Vicki Maher was the wife of William P. Maher for | ||||||
17 | 64 years; the mother of Shannon (Charles) Weisbecker, James | ||||||
18 | (Teresa) Maher, and Kristi (William) Shaffer; the grandmother | ||||||
19 | of Ellie (fiancé, Andrew Koldeway) Leetch, Joseph (Merli) | ||||||
20 | Leetch, Kathleen Maher, James Maher, Anna Maher, Will Maher, | ||||||
21 | and Mary Maher; the sister of Ray (Virginia) Babilla and the |
