SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
to learn of the death of Victoria "Vicki" Maher of Des Plaines,
who passed away on October 17, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Vicki Maher was born to Hertha and Ruel Babilla
in Chicago on January 13, 1941; she graduated from St. James
Lutheran School and Luther North High School; and
WHEREAS, Vicki Maher was a dedicated volunteer in her
community, serving as an election judge since 1998, a
classroom volunteer in Chicago and area public schools, and a
volunteer for the Des Plaines Public Library book sale; and
WHEREAS, Vicki Maher was an over 50-year member of
Immanuel Lutheran Church in Des Plaines, where she was a
founding member of the food pantry and ran the Sunday school
program for 18 years along with many other programs; and
WHEREAS, Vicki Maher was the wife of William P. Maher for
64 years; the mother of Shannon (Charles) Weisbecker, James
(Teresa) Maher, and Kristi (William) Shaffer; the grandmother
of Ellie (fiancé, Andrew Koldeway) Leetch, Joseph (Merli)
Leetch, Kathleen Maher, James Maher, Anna Maher, Will Maher,
and Mary Maher; the sister of Ray (Virginia) Babilla and the

late Roger D. Babilla; and the aunt and friend of many;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Victoria "Vicki" Maher and extend our sincere condolences to
her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
further
