2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of John B. "Jack" Klaus Jr. of Des | ||||||
4 | Plaines, who passed away on December 29, 2023; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jack Klaus was born in Chicago on July 23, 1939; | ||||||
6 | he was raised in the Back of the Yards neighborhood of Chicago; | ||||||
7 | he served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps; he | ||||||
8 | obtained his bachelor's degree in philosophy and his master's | ||||||
9 | degree in public policy from Loyola University; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Jack Klaus served as director of Urban Renewal | ||||||
11 | for both the Lincoln Park neighborhood and the City of Iowa | ||||||
12 | City; he served on the Cook County Economic Development Board | ||||||
13 | for many years; he concluded his long career in public service | ||||||
14 | as economic development director for the City of Des Plaines; | ||||||
15 | and

16 | WHEREAS, Jack Klaus was a longtime member of St. Mary's | ||||||
17 | Parish; and

18 | WHEREAS, Jack Klaus was a loving uncle and friend to many; | ||||||
19 | and

20 | WHEREAS, Jack Klaus was preceded in death by his son, |
