SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Danny Barlow of Chicago, who passed
4away on July 3, 2024; and
5 WHEREAS, Danny Barlow was born to Marlene Barlow and
6Rapier "Ray" Bond in Chicago on June 13, 1953; he was the
7firstborn and the older sibling of four brothers, Samuel,
8Sylvester, Derrick, and Larry, and two sisters, Cheryl and
9Erica; he committed to his faith at an early age and was
10baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church; he attended
11Forestville Upper Grade Center and Dunbar Vocational High
12School and participated in a variety of activities, which
13included singing, tap dancing, wrestling, and JROTC, where he
14achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel and was a battalion
15commander, and he played the piano, the bugle, and the
16trumpet; and
17 WHEREAS, Danny Barlow married Linda, and they had two
18children, Danny and William, before the marriage ended and
19they subsequently became lifelong friends; he married Marie
20years later, and she brought to the union six children,
21Tyjuana, Jack, Cyrita, Lamar, Edward, and Lawrence, before
22they had three children of their own, Vernon, Daniel, and
23Maria; together, they were the grandparents and

1great-grandparents of more than 50; and
2 WHEREAS, Danny Barlow worked as a union carpenter with
3Carpenters Local 1185, initially joining as a teenager and
4remaining an active member until his retirement decades later;
5during his tenure, he helped hundreds join the union,
6including his sons, grandsons, and numerous friends; he was
7passionate about his job and enjoyed working on construction
8sites; he also enjoyed laying tile and became well-known in
9the flooring industry, working as a flooring consultant for
10multiple businesses until his passing; and
11 WHEREAS, Danny Barlow was always the life of the party and
12the heart of any gathering; he enjoyed betting on horses,
13gambling on casino boats or in Las Vegas, cooking, and
14grilling; and
15 WHEREAS, Danny Barlow will be remembered for his work
16ethic, his leadership, and his infectious joy; therefore, be
17it
18 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Danny Barlow and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
21friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
