| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Gary Lee Ludwig, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | September 2, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Gary Ludwig was born in Danville on March 15, 1944 | ||||||
6 | to Holly and Cecille Ludwig; he graduated from Armstrong High | ||||||
7 | School and received 2 degrees from the University of Illinois; | ||||||
8 | he served as a 1st lieutenant in the United States Army in | ||||||
9 | Thailand during the Vietnam Conflict; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, In 1971, Gary Ludwig began an insurance career in | ||||||
11 | Vermilion County that spanned over 40 years; he owned Heartland | ||||||
12 | Insurance Agency in Danville and was frequently recognized | ||||||
13 | among professional organizations for service to his customers; | ||||||
14 | and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Gary Ludwig was a member of the Danville Jaycees, | ||||||
16 | Oakwood United Methodist Church, and the Oakwood High School | ||||||
17 | Booster Club; he served on the board of many civic | ||||||
18 | organizations, including the Farmhouse International | ||||||
19 | Foundation, Downtown Danville Inc., Vermilion Advantage, the | ||||||
20 | Danville Library Foundation, the Danville YMCA, and the | ||||||
21 | Independent Insurance Agents of Vermilion County; he was a | ||||||
22 | charter member of the Oakwood Men's Club and served on the |

1 | board of the United Community Bank in Oakwood; he was the | ||||||
2 | adviser to the Illinois Chapter of Farmhouse Fraternity and was | ||||||
3 | a member of the Vermilion County Board; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Gary Ludwig passions were his family and all | ||||||
5 | things Illini; he attended nearly all of his 4 grandsons' | ||||||
6 | sporting and school events and had not missed an Illinois home | ||||||
7 | football game since 1971; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Gary Ludwig was preceded in death by his daughter, | ||||||
9 | Lee Ann Sprague, and his 2 brothers, Jack and Jake Ludwig; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Gary Ludwig is survived by his wife of 49 years, | ||||||
11 | Brenda; his daughter, Amy (Patrick) Rouse; his 4 grandsons, | ||||||
12 | Bennett and Jameson Sprague and George and Tommy Rouse; his | ||||||
13 | sister, Anne Luedke; his brother, Gene Ludwig; and his | ||||||
14 | son-in-law, Chad Sprague; therefore, be it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
17 | Gary Lee Ludwig, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
18 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
19 | further

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Gary Ludwig as an expression of our |
