Synopsis: Law enforcement continuing education funds. Provides that
money in a county fund that was designated to provide continuing
education to law enforcement officers employed by a county or a city
or town law enforcement agency located in the county and cannot be
distributed to any law enforcement agency using existing provisions in
the Indiana Code shall be distributed as follows before July 1, 2012: (1)
Each city or town law enforcement agency located in the county shall
receive a percentage of money from the fund that is equal to the
percentage of the total population in the county that resides within the
jurisdiction of the city or town law enforcement agency as determined
by the 2010 federal decennial census. (2) The county law enforcement
agency in the county shall receive any money remaining in the fund
after distributions are made from the fund to each city or town law
enforcement agency in the county.

A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning state
and local administration.
procedures described in section 2 of this chapter because
it is not possible to attribute the collection of fees deposited
in the fund to a specific law enforcement agency as
required in section 2(e) of this chapter;
shall be distributed as described in subsections (b) and (c) to law
enforcement agencies in the county to provide law enforcement
continuing education to law enforcement officers employed by the
agencies.
(b) In each county that has a county fund described in
subsection (a):
(1) each city or town law enforcement agency located in the
county shall receive a percentage of money from the fund that
is equal to the percentage of the total population in the
county:
(A) that resides within the jurisdiction of the city or town
law enforcement agency; and
(B) as determined by the 2010 federal decennial census;
and
(2) the county law enforcement agency in the county shall
receive any money remaining in the fund after distributions
are made from the fund as provided in subdivision (1).
(c) The county fiscal body of a county described in subsection
(b) shall transfer money in the county fund to the appropriate:
(1) city or town law enforcement agency; and
(2) county law enforcement agency;
as provided in subsection (b) before July 1, 2012.
(d) This section expires July 1, 2013.
