A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the Indiana Department of Transportation to rename the part of Interstate 164 at mile marker 9 the "Mark Shepherdson Memorial Highway".

Whereas, Mark Shepherdson was born in Springfield, Illinois, on November 27, 1959, and died on March 24, 2009, while working for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) on Interstate 164;

Whereas, Mark Shepherdson began work for INDOT on July 17, 2006;

Whereas, Mark took great pride in his work and was meticulous in the maintenance and cleanliness of his truck;

Whereas, Mark treated his job seriously and always performed above expectations;

Whereas, In addition to working for INDOT, Mark also drove a bus for many years at Willow Park Retirement Community and the Town Trolley for many events in Newburgh, Indiana;

Whereas, Mark loved the outdoors, working in his yard and taking walks with Jake, his English Springer Spaniel;

Whereas, Mark Shepherdson was a great co-worker, a great friend, and a wonderful human being who performed all his duties cheerfully and was the first to volunteer for any assignment; and

Whereas, The citizens of Indiana mourn the loss of such an outstanding Hoosier and wish to remember him and his many accomplishments: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives

of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,

the Senate concurring:

SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly wishes to commemorate the life and accomplishments of Mark Shepherdson by asking the Indiana Department of Transportation to rename the part of Interstate 164 at mile marker 9 the "Mark Shepherdson Memorial Highway".
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Transportation and the family of Mark Shepherdson.
