A HOUSE RESOLUTION recognizing the Community
Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana, Inc.
Whereas, For 30 years, the Community Harvest Food Bank
has been collecting donated food and other resources for those
in need;
Whereas, The Community Harvest Food Bank partners
with businesses, foundations, organizations, and individuals to
help rid the community of hunger and provide hope and dignity
to those in need;
Whereas, The Community Harvest Food Bank came into existence in 1983 when a need was created by the closing of International Harvester, a large manufacturer in Fort Wayne,
which affected over 50,000 people;
Whereas, The creators of the Community Harvest Food
Bank assumed this need would be temporary; however, they
soon discovered that hunger is an ongoing problem;
Whereas, Today the Community Harvest Food Bank feeds
21,100 hungry people each week and distributes 10 million
pounds of food every year; and
Whereas, For 30 years, the Community Harvest Food Bank
has been helping those in need and serving as a model for other
food banks throughout the United States and the world:
Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives expresses its gratitude to Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana, Inc., for its dedication and service to the needy in our communities.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana, Inc.
