A HOUSE RESOLUTION honoring Representative Phil
Hinkle.
Whereas, Representative Phil Hinkle, who was first elected
to represent the citizens of House District 92 in 2000, will be
leaving the House chamber for the last time at the end of the
2012 legislative session;
Whereas, Representative Hinkle currently serves on the
Financial Institutions and Local Government Committees and
has served on Elections and Apportionment, Government and
Regulatory Reform, Local Government (past chairman),
Financial Institutions, Education, Small Business and
Economic Development, and Ways and Means Committees;
Whereas, In recognition of his legislative and community work, Representative Hinkle was presented the 2005 Indiana Association for Home and Hospice Care's Advocate of the Year award;
Whereas, Before being elected to the House of
Representatives, Representative Hinkle served as Research
Director for the Indianapolis City-County Council, was elected
as the Wayne Township Assessor, and served on the
Indianapolis City-County Council;
Whereas, Representative Hinkle is presently employed as
the Coordinator of Community Partnerships with the
Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township;
Whereas, Before running for public office, Representative
Hinkle taught at Ben Davis High School for three years;
Whereas, In addition to his involvement with the Indiana
House of Representatives, Representative Hinkle served on the
Southwest Multi-Service Center Board of Directors and the
Board of Directors for the Greater Indianapolis YMCA; is past
president of the Wayne Township Education Foundation and
continues to serve on the Foundation Board of Directors; and
is actively involved with the Suburban West Optimist Club and
St. Christopher Catholic Church; and
Whereas, Representative Phil Hinkle has served his
constituency loyally and faithfully since his election to the
Indiana General Assembly: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives bids a fond farewell to Representative Phil Hinkle. The House of Representatives has seen only good things during his tenure. Legislators and staff alike will miss him greatly. His departure will leave a void that will never be truly filled.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit copies of this resolution to Representative Phil Hinkle and his family.
