A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating the Lafayette
Central Catholic Junior-Senior High School baseball team on winning
the Class A State Championship.

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating the Lafayette
Central Catholic Junior-Senior High School baseball team on winning
the Class A State Championship.
Whereas, On June 16, 2012, the Lafayette Central
Catholic Knights overcame their opponent to clinch the Class
A State Baseball Championship;
Whereas, This win marks the fourth straight year that the
Knights finished their season with a State Championship
victory. This feat is exceptionally meaningful for the seniors
who have now won the State Championship all four years of
their high school baseball careers;
Whereas,
The State Championship serves as the sixth
overall state championship for the top-ranked Knights
baseball team, placing them second overall in Indiana
history;
Whereas, In the championship game, the Knights scored
12 runs from 17 hits, clinching a state record for the number
of hits in a Class A game;
Whereas, The game remained close until a phenomenal fifth inning by the Knights, during which the team rallied to score an Indiana state record of nine runs, ending the inning up 11-2;
Whereas, The Knights scored once more, finishing the game with a final score of 12-2;
Whereas, Jake Churchill and Wiley Lodde each finished
the game with two hits while and Cowan Olinger ended the
game with three;
Whereas, Coach Tim Bordenet is in his 17th year as head
coach for the Knights. This season he led the team to an
impressive overall record of 31-4; and
Whereas, Winning a State Championship requires
dedication, commitment, and drive from every member of the
team. It is remarkable that the Knights have been able to
secure victory for four consecutive years. We congratulate
them for their hard work and wish them continued success in
the future: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly congratulates the
State Champion Lafayette Central Catholic Junior-Senior High School
baseball team.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to
transmit a copy of this Resolution to Coach Tim Bordenet.
