An Act to allow hybrid and alternate fuel vehicles in
hov-designated highwayy lanes.
Be
it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court
assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. (a) Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, motor vehicles designated by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration or the department of environmental protection as hybrid or alternate fuel vehicles shall be authorized for travel on those lanes designated by the executive office of transportation and construction for use by high-occupancy vehicles.
(b) The secretary of transportation and construction shall issue those regulations it considers necessary or appropriate to implement this act.
