A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled

"Public health code,"

by amending section 7421 (MCL 333.7421), as added by 2014 PA 311.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 7421. (1) By February 1 of each year, the department of community health and human services shall ascertain, document, and publish a report on the number, trends, patterns, and risk factors related to opioid-related overdose fatalities that occurred in this state in the preceding calendar year. The department shall include in the report information on interventions that would be effective in reducing the rate of fatal or nonfatal opioid-related overdoses in this state.

(2) If the opioid advisory commission requests information described under subsection (1) to complete an annual commission report, the department of health and human services shall provide that information to the opioid advisory commission.

(3) As used in this section:

(a) "Annual commission report" means the report required under section 851(13)(c) of the legislative council act, 1986 PA 268, MCL 4.1851.

(b) "Opioid advisory commission" means the opioid advisory commission created under section 851 of the legislative council act, 1986 PA 268, MCL 4.1851.
