A bill to amend 1965 PA 380, entitled

"Executive organization act of 1965,"

by amending section 179 (MCL 16.279).

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 179. (1) The commission of agriculture and rural development shall consist of 5 members, not more than 3 of whom shall be members of the same political party, appointed by the governor by and with the advice and consent of the senate, . The term of office of each that meet the following requirements:

(a) Not more than 3 members shall be members of the same political party.

(b) At least 1 member shall be a resident of the Upper Peninsula.

(2) Except for members first appointed, each member shall be serve for 4 years. , except that of Of the members first appointed 2 shall be appointed for 1 year, 1 shall be appointed for 2 years, 1 shall be appointed for 3 years, and 1 shall be appointed for 4 years. A member appointed to fill a vacancy occurring other than by expiration of a term shall be appointed for the unexpired term.

(3) The commission of agriculture and rural development shall elect from its members officers as it considers advisable. A majority of the commission members shall be required to constitute constitutes a quorum.

(4) The business which that the commission of agriculture and rural development may perform shall must be conducted at a meeting of the commission held in compliance with Act No. 267 of the Public Acts of the open meetings act, 1976 PA 267, being sections MCL 15.261 to 15.275. of the Michigan Compiled Laws. Public notice of the time, date, and place of the meeting shall must be given in the manner required by Act No. 267 of the Public Acts of the open meetings act, 1976 PA 267, MCL 15.261 to 15.275.
