SENATE BILL NO. 850
A bill to amend 2016 PA 407, entitled
"Skilled trades regulation act,"
(MCL 339.5101 to 339.6133) by adding section 218.
the people of the state of michigan enact:
Sec. 218. (1) Beginning June 1, 2025, and not later than June 1 of each subsequent year, the department shall post on the department's website an annual report that includes all of the following information:
(a) A list of each state or country from which an individual was issued a license under section 219, 223, 731(5), 907(3), or 1019(1), for the year covered by the report, and for which occupation the license was issued.
(b) All licensing compacts and multijurisdictional agreements involving occupations under this act of which this state is a part.
(c) For every occupation under this act, a list that includes each state and occupation for which an individual may be issued a license in this state if the individual holds a valid license for that occupation in that state and the department determines the requirements for issuing a license in that state generally meet the requirements under this act. The list described in this subsection must be provided by the department regardless of whether the department issued a license or received an application.
(2) Beginning June 1, 2025, and not later than June 1 of each subsequent year, the department shall review any application received under this act from an individual who holds a valid license from an equivalent licensing department, board, or authority, as determined by the department, in at least 1 other state and submit an annual report to the senate and house of representatives standing committees with jurisdiction over occupational licensing. The report must include all of the following:
(a) If there is an impediment to the issuance of a license to an applicant described in this subsection, a description of the impediment.
(b) If the impediment described under subdivision (a) is due to statute, the statutory change needed to allow the department to issue a license to an applicant described in this subsection.
(c) If the impediment described under subdivision (a) is not due to statute, any modifications the department will make to allow the department to issue a license to an applicant described in this subsection.
(d) A recommendation on any licensing compacts or multijurisdictional agreements involving occupations under this act into which this state could enter.
