1.4Highway 44 in Caledonia.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. IMPROVEMENTS REQUIRED.
1.7    Subdivision 1. Costs paid. The commissioner of transportation must pay the costs
1.8associated with infrastructure improvements necessitated by construction on marked
1.9Trunk Highway 44 in the city of Caledonia.
1.10    Subd. 2. Improvements included. The improvements the commissioner must
1.11pay for under subdivision 1 include, but are not limited to: 16 additional light poles;
1.12repair of curbs and radiuses impacted by construction; replacement or repair of sidewalks;
1.13installation of overhead safety lighting at pedestrian crossings, including warning beacons
1.14notifying drivers of the crossings; and any other improvements necessary to replace
1.15infrastructure damaged by construction or to ensure public safety. All improvements shall
1.16be determined in consultation with the city of Caledonia.
1.17    Subd. 3. Source of funding. The commissioner shall perform the duties
1.18required under this section within existing appropriations allocated to the department's
1.19transportation district 6. The requirements under this section do not change the trunk
1.20highway funding allocation process or formula used by the department, or the amount
1.21otherwise allocated to transportation district 6.
1.22EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
