AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF TALLAHATCHIE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO LEASE CERTAIN COUNTY PROPERTY FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING A SUITABLE MEMORIAL SITE OR SITES FOR THE LATE EMMETT TILL; TO PROVIDE THAT SUCH LEASE MAY BE ENTERED INTO FOR A PERIOD OF UP TO FIFTY YEARS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The Board of Supervisors of Tallahatchie County, Mississippi, may, in its discretion, lease two (2) acres, more or less of real property in the Second Judicial District of Tallahatchie County, Mississippi, which has been or shall be donated to the county for the purpose of the erection, construction, maintenance or other suitable uses of a memorial site or sites to the late Emmett Till. The lease authorized under this section may be entered into for a period of up to fifty (50) years on such terms as the board of supervisors finds will promote the public welfare of the citizens of the county.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
