A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE SUCCESSFUL MUSIC CAREER AND THE RECEIPT OF A MISSISSIPPI COUNTRY MUSIC TRAIL MARKER FOR FAITH HILL.

     WHEREAS, on December 19, 2015, Visit Mississippi honored Faith Hill with a Mississippi Country Music Trail Marker; and

     WHEREAS, this marker represents the level of extraordinary accomplishments that Faith Hill has achieved throughout her professional career, additionally this achievement recognizes Faith Hill's outstanding influence on musicians in Mississippi and across the world; and

     WHEREAS, the location of Faith Hill's music trail marker, on the corner of Main and Mangum Streets in Star, Mississippi, is especially meaningful for her, as she is originally from Star, and nostalgically enjoys the fond memories of childhood in that area; and

     WHEREAS, from Star, Mississippi, Faith launched an unparalleled career based on dedication, passion and commitment, combined with her exceptional vocal talents and style, allowing her to become one of the most sought-after entertainers in the world, leaving her fans spellbound with her powerful voice; and

     WHEREAS, Faith's 23-year career has marked one of the entertainment industry's most successful and steady climbs to universal fame and stardom, and having sold over 30 million records worldwide and celebrating 14 Number 1 singles, five Grammy Awards, three Country Music Association Awards, 12 Academy of Country Music Awards, four American Music Awards and four People's Choice Awards, Faith has achieved a level of success few dare to dream of; and  

     WHEREAS, Hill has appeared on many popular daytime and late-night television talk shows, including the "Today Show," the "Tonight Show," the "American Music Awards," "60 Minutes" and "Good Morning America," and her ability to draw television audiences nationwide is evidenced by the success of her own network television specials, including her new lifestyle show debuting later this year; and

     WHEREAS, despite her busy schedule and family obligations to her husband, Tim McGraw, and daughters, Gracie, Maggie and Audrey Caroline, Faith Hill has found the time to be a moving force behind the Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Center in Meridian, Mississippi, which showcases stars with Mississippi ties and influences the future of music in Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to acknowledge and commend the success of individuals like Faith Hill, who has represented the State of Mississippi with distinction, both in hard work and unparalleled success throughout her career:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the successful music career of Faith Hill, and congratulate her for receiving a Mississippi Country Music Trail Marker and honor her support of the Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Center and extend to her best wishes in all of her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be furnished to Faith Hill and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
