A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE OCEAN SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADERS FOR WINNING THE 2010 CLASS 6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Ocean Springs High School Cheerleaders competed in the Class 6A Large Varsity Division at the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) State Cheerleading Competition, and were selected by judges as the 2010 Class 6A State Champions; and

     WHEREAS, this year the Ocean Springs High School Cheerleaders solidified their rise to championship status by continuing the precedent they established at regional competition to reach the state championship competition; and

     WHEREAS, the Ocean Springs High School Cheerleaders is comprised of:  Caitlyn Chapman, Kristin Dye, Lexis Evans, Megan Fontenelle, Natalie Mangum, Brittany Santamaria, Ellen Schuman, Maura Trochessett, Parish Blackmon, Halie Caldwell, Jessica Carter, Brittany Engel, Haleigh Hughes, Brianna Medina, Ashley Noblin, Taylor Rey, Mariah Rushing, Haley Somers, Allison Stennis, Anna Claire Allison, Katelyn Bishop, Alyssa Chavez, Heather Fletcher, Lauren Guilbeaux, Emily Lessard, Mary Katherine Mattiace, Samantha Moeller, Melissa Reid, Hali Saylor, Karisma Slusher, Sidnye Smith, Alexis Witcher, Caitlyn Blanton, Nicole Broussard, Mary Elizabeth Burton, Paige Conner, Karina Ellis, Hannah Marie Farley, Myranda Gallagher, Dallas Gillan, Dakotah Harsch, Olivia Hosey, Tiffany Johnson, Darrion Roberts, Addison Wade, Laura Weems and Samantha Weems; and

     WHEREAS, the Ocean Springs High School Cheerleaders have been superbly coached by Head Coach Diane Nettles, and assistant coaches, Robin Thomas, Diane Mattiace, Shannon Butler and Kelly Pilger, who have refined their skills in execution, acrobatics and dance; and

     WHEREAS, these young people have practiced and worked together for many hours in the pursuit of excellence and have shown a high degree of sportsmanship while representing the State of Mississippi on the national level; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, such as the Ocean Springs High School Cheerleaders, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Ocean Springs High School Cheerleaders upon winning the Class 6A State Championship at the MHSAA State Cheerleading Competition and extend sincere wishes for continued success in all of their academic and athletic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ocean Springs High School Cheerleaders Coach Diane Nettles and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
