A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION MOURNING THE LOSS AND COMMEMORATING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF MR. RAY M. SARTOR AND EXTENDING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.
WHEREAS, on April 6, 2015, Mr. Ray M. Sartor left this physical world to live out the eternal promise of salvation in the Lord, though death may take our loved ones, it can never take our love; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Sartor was born February 20, 1926, to loving parents, Mr. John Douglas Sartor and Mrs. Mary Elma Smith Sartor in Hamilton, Mississippi, where he spent his formative years, developing a love for serving others; and
WHEREAS, he performed the ultimate service for his country, serving in the United States Army, the National Guard and the Army Reserves respectively, earning many promotions and distinctions, which further evidenced his unwavering commitment to serving his country and culminating in his earning the rank of Brigadier General; and
WHEREAS, at home in Hamilton, Mr. Sartor served as County Agent with the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service for Union and Tippah Counties for many years, again demonstrating his unrivaled commitment to serving others, as well as serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Blue Mountain College and as a member of the Ripley Mississippi Rotary Club; and
WHEREAS, upon retiring, he founded Ray Sartor Realty, and enjoyed working as a real estate broker for many happy years; and
WHEREAS, faith also played an integral role in Mr. Sartor's life; he was a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church, where he enjoyed the many blessings of fellowship with the community he served for many years; and
WHEREAS, though he has left this mortal world of pain and sorrow, the light of his love shines unremitting in the hearts of his many friends and family members, survived by: his loving wife, Mrs. Janice Springer Sartor; daughters, Sandra Sartor Ford, Cherie Sartor Humphries and Martha Ray Sartor; sister, Irene Sartor Kennon; many grandchildren; and friends; their hearts will continue to be warmed by the loving and indelible legacy of Mr. Sartor; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize the outstanding contributions to the State of Mississippi, made by individuals like Mr. Ray M. Sartor, who not only served his country as a soldier, but also served his local community through years of dedicated work; throughout these many years of committed service Mr. Sartor's many achievements and accolades have brought great honor to himself and the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby mourn the loss and commemorate the life and legacy of Mr. Ray M. Sartor and extend deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Ray M. Sartor and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
