A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING SHERRY JAMES FOR BEING HONORED AS INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE PERKINSTON CAMPUS OF MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
WHEREAS, Sherry James, a resident of Lucedale, Mississippi, has been selected as Instructor of the Year at the Perkinston Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and
WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college; and
WHEREAS, the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and
WHEREAS, Sherry James, a nursing instructor, has taught at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past 13 years and helped countless students on their way to successful careers; and
WHEREAS, Sherry James received her bachelor of science in nursing and master of science in nursing education and administration from the University of Mobile, Alabama; and
WHEREAS, Sherry James serves as the Nursing Faculty/Staff Development Committee Chair and is a member of the Mississippi Nurses Association, Mississippi Organization of Associate Degree Nurses, Student Nurses Organization, and Health Occupations Students of America; and
WHEREAS, Sherry James is a member of Rocky Creek Church of Christ, the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society, and participates in George Regional Cancer Walks and George Regional Heart Walks; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend such outstanding teachers as Sherry James, who has dedicated her career to teaching the young people of this state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Sherry James for being selected as Instructor of the Year at the Perkinston Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend to her our heartiest wishes of success in all of her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Sherry James and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
