A RESOLUTION COMMENDING KASSIDY TALLY FOR HER REMARKABLE SOFTBALL CAREER WITH DELTA STATE UNIVERSITY AND EXPRESSING BEST WISHES FOR CONTINUED SUCCESS.
WHEREAS, Kassidy Elise Tally, from Raleigh, Mississippi, wrapped up her collegiate softball career with Delta State University at the close of the 2016 season, finishing as the Delta State University and Gulf South Conference (GSC) leader with 230 stolen bases, which is third in NCAA Division II history; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her stolen base record, Kassidy ranks second in school history and ninth in GSC history in runs (188), third in hits (259) and seventh in both career batting average (.347) and games (223); and
WHEREAS, during her 2016 senior season, Kassidy started all 54 contests, finishing with six doubles, two triples and 10 RBIs, and led the GSC and finished second in NCAA Division II with 69 stolen bases, which is 12th in NCAA single season history and second in GSC history; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of her exemplary 2016 season, Kassidy was one of five honorees to be named GSC "Top Ten" Award winners, and received the Commissioner's Trophy, the Conference's most prestigious honor; and
WHEREAS, over the course of her softball career, Kassidy has been named to the First Team All-Gulf South Conference on two occasions, in addition to earning many other prestigious honors; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her on the field performance, Kassidy also excelled in her scholarly work, accumulating a 3.88 overall grade point average before graduating in December 2015 with a degree in elementary education; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the outstanding student athletes of our state, such as Kassidy, whose success on and off the field brings great pride to her friends, family and the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Kassidy Elise Tally for her exceptional softball career with Delta State University, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Kassidy Elise Tally and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
