A RESOLUTION COMMENDING PASCAGOULA FIRE CAPTAIN WADE JOHNSON FOR HIS HEROISM AND BRAVERY IN RESCUING AN ELDERLY MAN FROM HIS FIRE ENGULFED HOME.

WHEREAS, a 93-year-old man is alive and recovering after his Pascagoula home was engulfed in flames because of the heroic efforts of Fire Captain Wade Johnson and the Pascagoula Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, the fire began at 8:30 p.m., and after responding to the call, Pascagoula firefighters soon realized that the man was still inside the engulfed home; and

WHEREAS, Fire Captain Wade Johnson bravely went into the blazing inferno and was able to successfully pull the elderly gentleman out of the house and into the realm of safety; and

WHEREAS, after his rescue, the elderly man was taken to the hospital and is now in stable condition; and

WHEREAS, firefighters selflessly take on a role that few among us have the strength to fulfill, and it is important to recognize the actions of these everyday heroes, but especially when their heroism saves lives; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the outstanding firefighters, first responders and other heroes of this state, such as Fire Captain Wade Johnson, whose dedication to ensuring the safety of the citizens under his care brings great pride to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Pascagoula Fire Captain Wade Johnson for his heroism in not only saving a life on this particular occasion, but for his selfless service and dedication provided day in and day out protecting the citizens of Pascagoula each time a call of emergency and distress is received.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Fire Captain Wade Johnson, the Pascagoula Fire Department and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
