A RESOLUTION COMMENDING RALPH MORGAN ON THE OCCASION OF THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE RALPH MORGAN RODEO.
WHEREAS, it is with great personal pride that Mr. Ralph Morgan will host the 2016 semi-annual Ralph Morgan Rodeo on April 8th and 9th, marking its 40th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, the event's 80th running will include bareback bronc riding, bull riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing and more; and
WHEREAS, after decades of hard work and commitment, the Ralph Morgan Rodeo's 40th anniversary is a moment of exceptional achievement for Mr. Morgan, who as a young man, began working as a logger at age 13 to support his family and eventually turned his unrelenting hard work into a prosperous logging company; and
WHEREAS, in his early 20s, Mr. Morgan won his very first rodeo, despite having never competed in one before; after winning his first rodeo and amassing scores of trophies throughout the 1950s and 1960s, he built his own rodeo arena by his house in 1975, the same venue where the Ralph Morgan Rodeo has been hosted since its inception; and
WHEREAS, over the course of the 40-year history of the Ralph Morgan Rodeo, Mr. Morgan has maintained the highest standards of rodeo production including the best announcers and best cowboys, providing the people of Lauderdale, Mississippi, and her many guests the best family friendly entertainment around; and
WHEREAS, in addition to providing young, talented cowboys with the opportunity to prove themselves on a big stage in front of excited fans, the Ralph Morgan Rodeo also provides an economic boost for local restaurants, stores and hotels in Lauderdale, as people travel from all over the region to view the exceptional show and enjoy the local Lauderdale culture; and
WHEREAS, after 40 years of successfully hosting the Ralph Morgan Rodeo, Ralph Morgan has established himself as the premier authority in the rodeo industry, the result of his uncompromising work ethic, making him a giant among fellow rodeo producers; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize outstanding individual contributions like that of Mr. Ralph Morgan, whose dedication and commitment to the Ralph Morgan Rodeo has provided four decades of entertainment and joy to the people of Mississippi and her guests:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Ralph Morgan on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Ralph Morgan Rodeo and extend best wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Ralph Morgan and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
