A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND 50 YEARS OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO HIS COMMUNITY AND TO HIS CHURCH OF ELDER JAMES H. STRINGER AND DESIGNATING SEPTEMBER 12, 2010, AS "ELDER JAMES H. STRINGER DAY IN MISSISSIPPI."
WHEREAS, Elder James H. Stringer, first was called to serve as Pastor of the First Pentecostal Church of Biloxi in 1960, after the church was founded by his pastor, the Reverend A.O. Holmes, who founded the mission church on Caillavet Street in Biloxi in 1950; and
WHEREAS, Elder James H. Stringer has built this church and passed the leadership on to his son Paul, to become The Pentecostals of the Gulf Coast Church in Biloxi, one of the leading Pentecostal Churches in America; and
WHEREAS, Elder James H. Stringer has been instrumental in assisting this church into becoming known an "Incubator of New Ministers" because many of the young men coming into the faith under his leadership have answered the call to preach; and
WHEREAS, Elder James H. Stringer has demonstrated that the greatest message he ever preached was by setting an example of his life of generosity and consolation to the needy and extending a helping hand to struggling evangelists; and
WHEREAS, Elder James H. Stringer has spent many thousands of hours at the hospitals, funeral homes, and assisting and consoling many Gulf Coast families in their times of need; and
WHEREAS, Elder James H. Stringer and his wife have brought four wonderful children into this world to leave a lasting legacy of Godly service to their fellow men and women:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life and public service of Elder James H. Stringer to the People of Mississippi and the Mississippi Gulf Coast and offer his example of public service as a shining example of why we are all proud to be Mississippians and designating Sunday, September 12, 2010, as "Elder James H. Stringer Day In Mississippi."
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Elder James H. Stringer and his church family, the Harrison County Board of Supervisors, and be made available to the news outlets on the Gulf Coast and the Capitol Press Corps.
