A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 2015 DESOTO CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL "LADY JAGS" VOLLEYBALL TEAM AND COACH MARGARET FALATKO FOR WINNING THREE CONSECUTIVE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS.
WHEREAS, welcome to the volleyball page of DeSoto Central's Lady Jaguars! The Lady Jags have claimed another State Championship, making that three in the past four years (2012, 2014 and 2015); and
WHEREAS, this is the first time the program has won back-to-back championships. 2015 was a successful year with many accomplishments, including Tupelo Volleyfest Champions, County Champions, District Champions, North-Half Champions and State Champions; and
WHEREAS, this is Coach Falatko's third year with DeSoto Central and her fourth year coaching volleyball at DeSoto Central. In 2012 and 2014, she led the Lady Jaguars to a District Championship, North-Half Championship and State Championship. In 2013, the Lady Jags were District Runner-Ups and North-Half Runner-Ups. She was named Mississippi's 2013 Volleyball Coach of the Year and 2014-2015 Mississippi's Best of the Preps Volleyball Coach of the Year. Coach Falatko played school and club volleyball from Eighth Grade to Twelfth Grade. During her high school years, her team went to State each year. She was a starter her sophomore year when her team won a State Championship. Coach Falatko also played tennis and ran track while she was in high school. Coach Falatko started her coaching career at Memphis Metro, where she coached for four years. She also coached at FACS (middle school) for one year and Briarcrest Christian School (high school — JV) for one year before coming to DeSoto Central. Coach Falatko attended the University of Mississippi where she received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and obtained a Master of Arts in Teaching from Belhaven University; and
WHEREAS, the 2015 Lady Jags Volleyball Team Roster is: Macy Baer, Alli Bales, Avery Bynum, Stephanie Collard, Evie Cook, Loni Cook, Molly Beth Ferguson, Katie Gill, Carly Goodwin, Zoe Hinds, Isabella Kail, Shelby Maddox, Ellie Meine, Mattie Meine, Olivia Nault, Maggie Neal, Callie Newman, Katie Pannell, Madison Phillips, Carmen Reed, Skylar Russell, Kennedy Scritenthal, Riley Storck, Zoe Storck, Kendall Thomas, Brooke Watson and Alexia Woodward; and Coach Margaret Falatko; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we join DeSoto County in recognizing a team of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their county and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2015 DeSoto Central High School "Lady Jags" Volleyball Team and Coach Margaret Falatko, and extend the best wishes of the Legislature to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors for future success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Margaret Falatko, DeSoto Central High School Principal Cliff Johnston, forwarded to the DeSoto County Board of Education, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
