A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to appropriate funds for north carolina food banks.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated from the General Fund or from any available federal Block Grant funds to the Department of Health and Human Services the sum of three million seven hundred seventy‑three thousand one dollars ($3,773,001) for the 2012‑2013 fiscal year to provide additional funding to the North Carolina food banks. These funds shall be allocated equally among the following:
(1) MANNA Food Bank (Asheville).
(2) Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina (Charlotte).
(3) The Food Bank of the Albemarle (Elizabeth City).
(4) The Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina (Fayetteville).
(5) The Food Bank of North Carolina (Raleigh).
(6) Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina (Winston‑Salem).
SECTION 2. This act becomes effective July 1, 2012.
