A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to clarify the location of the boundary between the counties of graham and swain.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. The General Assembly finds that:
(1) The exact location of the county line between Graham County and Swain County in relation to the Tennessee River, Fontana Dam, and Fontana Lake has been in question and stands in need of clarification by the General Assembly.
(2) Both Graham and Swain Counties have recognized previously the common border declared in this act.
SECTION 2. Pursuant to Section 1 of Article VII of the North Carolina Constitution, the General Assembly declares the boundary between Graham County and Swain County along the Little Tennessee River from Fontana Dam to the Tennessee border is the line that starts from the center of the Little Tennessee River where it exits the Fontana Dam in its current location; thence down the center of said river to the Tennessee border.
SECTION 3. This act applies to the Counties of Graham and Swain only.
SECTION 4. This act is effective when it becomes law.
