A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT To study the structure of the north carolina criminal justice education and training standards commission.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  The Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Justice and Public Safety shall study the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission's current size and membership to determine if representation, efficiency, and productivity would be increased with a decrease in the number of members and by providing a more balanced structure of appropriate stakeholders in the Commission.

SECTION 2.  The Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Justice and Public Safety shall submit a final report of its findings and recommendations to the 2018 Regular Session of the 2017 General Assembly by filing the report with the President Pro Tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

SECTION 3.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
