SYNOPSIS

     Makes supplemental appropriation of $1.5 million to Election Law Enforcement Commission in DLPS for enforcement and staffing activities.

A Supplement to the annual appropriations act for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023, P.L.2022, c.49.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.  In addition to the amounts appropriated under P.L.2022, c.49, the annual appropriations act for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023, there is appropriated from the General Fund the following amount for the purposes specified:

 

66 DEPARTMENT OF LAW AND PUBLIC SAFETY

10 Public Safety and Criminal Justice

13 Special Law Enforcement Activities

1420 Election Law Enforcement Commission

 

DIRECT STATE SERVICES

17-1420  Election Law Enforcement Commission ............ $1,500,000

                 Total Direct State Services appropriation,                           

                   Election Law Enforcement .............................. $1,500,000

Direct State Services:

         17    Enforcement and Staffing Activities.... ($1,500,000)

 

The amount herein above appropriated for Enforcement and Staffing Activities shall be utilized for the enforcement of the provisions of "The New Jersey Campaign Contributions and Expenditures Reporting Act," P.L.1973, c.83         (C.19:44A-1 et seq.), and to ensure there are a sufficient number of employees as are necessary to carry out the commission's enforcement duties.

 

     2.  This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill provides a supplemental appropriation of $1,500,000 from the General Fund to the Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC) in the Department of Law and Public Safety for staffing and enforcement activities.  ELEC is responsible for administering State laws regarding campaign finance.
