SYNOPSIS
Excludes from gross income compensation paid to members of district boards of election for services rendered in elections.

An Act excluding from gross income under the New Jersey gross income tax compensation paid to members of district boards of election for services rendered for elections in this State, supplementing chapter 6 of Title 54A of the New Jersey Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. Gross income shall not include compensation paid pursuant to R.S.19:45-6 to members of district boards of election for services rendered in an election held pursuant to Title 19 of the Revised Statutes.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill excludes from gross income under the New Jersey gross income tax compensation paid to members of district boards of election, commonly referred to as election day "poll workers," for services performed at elections in this State. Depending on their specific polling place duties, election day workers are paid a minimum of $200 for services performed at general, primary and special elections.
