SYNOPSIS
Requires certain student identification cards to contain telephone number for suicide prevention hotline.

An Act concerning student suicide prevention and supplementing chapter 6 and chapter 3B of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. A public school that includes any of the grades seven through 12 and that issues student identification cards shall have printed on the back of the student identification cards the telephone number for a suicide prevention hotline.
2. An institution of higher education that issues student identification cards shall have printed on the back of the student identification cards the telephone number for a suicide prevention hotline.
3. Section 1 of this act shall take effect in the first full school year following the date of enactment, and section 2 of this act shall take effect in the first full academic year following the date of enactment.
STATEMENT
This bill requires a public school that includes any of the grades seven through 12 and that issues student identification cards to have the telephone number for a suicide prevention hotline printed on the back of the student identification cards. The bill also requires an institution of higher education that issues student identification cards to have the telephone number for a suicide prevention hotline printed on the back of the cards.
