CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT

As reported by the Assembly Military and Veterans' Affairs Committee on June 18, 2015, with amendments.

A Concurrent Resolution honoring the members of the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard.

Whereas, The State of New Jersey is proud of its sons and daughters in the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard who answered their nation's call to duty and who put jobs and families on hold to serve this State and nation in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001; and

Whereas, The members of the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard, under the leadership of Wing Commander Colonel 1[Kerry M. Gentry] John R. DiDonna, Jr.1, are especially commended as individuals of concern and character, who, at a moment's notice, respond to any emergency in the United States and worldwide; and

Whereas, From the earliest militia of the colonial era to the recent veterans of the high-tech war in Southwest Asia, whenever our nation was endangered or her interests threatened, her patriotic citizen-soldiers have responded heartily; and

Whereas, The Americans who have served in Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, Noble Eagle, Southern Watch, Northern Watch, and other peace-keeping missions across the globe, exemplified by the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard, have borne great burdens and have made great sacrifices in the service of the causes of freedom and democracy, not only for our country but also for all others who would embrace those ideals; and

Whereas, The New Jersey Senate and General Assembly are pleased to note that Brigadier General Michael L. Cunniff, the Adjutant General of the State of New Jersey, held a Hometown Heroes Salute Awards Ceremony in February of 2014, to pay tribute to members of the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard; and

Whereas, It is altogether proper and fitting for this Legislature and the people of this State to recognize and to acknowledge the courage, determination, and loyalty demonstrated by the members of the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard in their service to our State and country; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey (the Senate concurring):

     1.  The Legislature of New Jersey hereby honors and salutes the members of the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard, led by Wing Commander 1[Colonel Kerry M. Gentry] John R. DiDonna, Jr.1, and extends to them sincere best wishes and appreciation.
