STATEMENT
This bill would require the State registrar of vital statistics to issue, upon request, one free copy of a deceased veteran's death certificate to the veteran's legal representative, the executor or administrator of the veteran's estate, or to a family member authorized to obtain a copy of the certificate which, under current law, includes a parent or legal guardian, spouse, civil union partner, and any sibling, child, or grandchild of legal age. All additional copies of the veteran's death certificate would be subject to the normal statutory fee.
