SYNOPSIS

     Requires special paratransit vehicles to display flashing warning lights while discharging or receiving passengers.

An Act requiring special paratransit vehicles to display warning lights while discharging or receiving passengers and supplementing Title 39 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    The driver of a special paratransit vehicle, as defined in R.S.48:4-1, shall be required to display the flashing warning lights of the vehicle, as required pursuant to R.S.39:3-54, while the vehicle is stopped for the purpose of receiving or discharging passengers to alert drivers of other vehicles to exercise care in approaching, overtaking, or passing the stopped vehicle.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill requires drivers of special paratransit vehicles to display flashing warning lights while discharging or receiving passengers to alert drivers of other vehicles to exercise care in approaching, overtaking, or passing the stopped vehicles.
