     Provides immunity for caring for wildlife without license under certain circumstances.

An Act concerning wildlife rehabilitation and supplementing Title 23 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    A person who, after a good faith effort to contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, provides temporary care to injured wildlife until the wildlife is transferred to the care of a licensed wildlife rehabilitator or properly released into the wild, shall not be liable for providing care without a license or for any other violation involving wildlife which may otherwise result from providing care, notwithstanding any State law, or rule or regulation adopted pursuant thereto, to the contrary.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill provides immunity from liability for a violation involving wildlife for a person who, after a good faith effort to contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, provides temporary care to injured wildlife without a license.
