Designates May of each year as Military Spouse Appreciation Month in New Jersey.

A Joint Resolution designating May of each year as Military Spouse Appreciation Month in New Jersey.
Whereas, The men and women in the Armed Forces courageously step up to defend our Nation and State, and keep its citizens safe; and
Whereas, As these servicemembers make heroic sacrifices for their country, their husbands and wives are often left to deal with the strains of relocation and deployment; and
Whereas, Though most military spouses do not wear a uniform themselves, they serve and strengthen our Nation and State every day by providing our brave troops with support, comfort, and love; and
Whereas, Military spouses are the rock on which their families, our military community, and our security depend; and
Whereas, They are silent heroes who provide the critical contributions of understanding and encouragement to our servicemembers, something that should be acknowledged and celebrated; and
Whereas, They deserve recognition for the contributions and sacrifices they make; and
Whereas, This State recognizes military spouses for their selfless and extraordinary service, sacrifices, strength, fortitude, and courage; and
Whereas, The State of New Jersey designates May of each year as Military Spouse Appreciation Month in New Jersey; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. a. The month of May of each year is designated as "Military Spouse Appreciation Month" in New Jersey.
b. The Governor is respectfully requested to annually issue a proclamation calling upon public officials and citizens of the State to observe the month with appropriate activities and programs.
2. This joint resolution shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This joint resolution designates May of each year as Military Spouse Appreciation Month.

This State recognizes the selfless and extraordinary service and sacrifices of military spouses, and designates May of each year as Military Spouse Appreciation Month in New Jersey.
