Article 32 of the general business law, as amended by chap- 2 ter 219 of the laws of 2006, is renumbered article 32-A. 3 S 2. The article heading of article 32-A of the general business law, 4 as amended by chapter 219 of the laws of 2006 and as renumbered by 5 section one of this act, is amended to read as follows: 6 [WHEELCHAIR WARRANTIES] WHEELCHAIRS 7 S 3. Section 670 of the general business law, as amended by chapter 8 219 of the laws of 2006, is renumbered section 677. 9 S 4. The opening paragraph of subdivision 1 of section 677 of the 10 general business law, as amended by chapter 219 of the laws of 2006 and 11 as renumbered by section three of this act, is amended to read as 12 follows: 13 As used in this [section] ARTICLE: 14 S 5. The general business law is amended by adding a new section 678 15 to read as follows: 16 S 678. APPROVAL OF REQUESTS FOR WHEELCHAIRS. AN INSURANCE COMPANY 17 LICENSED TO DO BUSINESS IN THIS STATE THAT RECEIVES A REQUEST FOR 18 PAYMENT FROM A WHEELCHAIR DEALER OR MANUFACTURER WHOM A CLIENT OF SUCH 19 INSURANCE COMPANY HAS HIRED TO MANUFACTURE OR ASSEMBLE A WHEELCHAIR, FOR 20 PURPOSES OTHER THAN RESALE, SHALL INFORM SUCH WHEELCHAIR DEALER OR 21 MANUFACTURER AND THE CLIENT OF SUCH WHEELCHAIR DEALER OR MANUFACTURER EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
