        AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to what positions consti-
          tute chief financial officer of a school district

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new  section  2131
     2  to read as follows:
     3    §  2131. Chief financial officer. For purposes of this article, "chief
     4  financial officer of a school district" shall mean and include, but  not
     5  be  limited  to, the assistant superintendent for business, school busi-
     6  ness administrator, school business officer, or other  similar  official
     7  that  reports directly to the superintendent and holds either the appro-
     8  priate certification as required by the department for a school district
     9  administrator, school business administrator, or school  district  busi-
    10  ness  leader,  or  other  person  holding  an appropriate certificate as
    11  determined by the department, or a school  business  manager  or  person
    12  holding a similar title in a civil service position.
    13    §  2.  This act shall take effect on the first of July next succeeding
    14  the date on which it shall have become a law.
