       AN ACT to authorize officers employed by  the  village  of  Kiryas  Joel
         department  of  public  safety  to  utilize  a siren and red and white
         flashing lights in certain circumstances
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.  Notwithstanding  the  provisions  of section 132-a of the
    2  vehicle and traffic law or any other law to  the  contrary,  an  officer
    3  employed  by  the village of Kiryas Joel department of public safety, in
    4  the county of Orange, may utilize a siren and/or red and white  flashing
    5  lights  on  any  vehicle owned by such village that is being used by the
    6  officer in the course of performing his or her duties.
    7    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
