AN ACT to amend the general municipal law, in relation to ordinances to
regulate taxicabs, limousines, livery and transportation network
company vehicles
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The section heading and subdivision 1 of section 181 of the
2 general municipal law, the section heading as amended by chapter 579 of
3 the laws of 1993, subdivision 1 as amended by chapter 498 of the laws of
4 2015, are amended to read as follows:
5 Ordinances to regulate taxicabs [and], limousines, livery and trans-
6 portation network company vehicles.
7 1. The registration and licensing of taxicabs, limousines, livery and
8 transportation network company vehicles and may limit the number of
9 taxicabs to be licensed and the county of Westchester may adopt ordi-
10 nances regulating the registration and licensing of taxicabs and limou-
11 sines and may limit the number to be licensed; the county of Nassau may
12 adopt ordinances regulating the registration of taxicabs and limousines;
13 and the county of Suffolk may adopt local laws or ordinances regulating
14 the registration of taxicabs, limousines, and livery vehicles; and the
15 county of Rockland may adopt local laws or ordinances regulating the
16 registration and licensing of taxicabs, limousines, and livery vehicles
17 and may limit the number to be licensed.
18 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
