       AN ACT to amend the highway law, in  relation  to  the  installation  of
         certain speed bumps
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new  section  67  to
    2  read as follows:
    3    S  67. INSTALLATION OF SPEED BUMPS AND TRAFFIC SPIKES.  1. THE COMMIS-
    4  SIONER SHALL INSTALL SPEED BUMPS AND TRAFFIC SPIKES ON HIGHWAY RAMPS  TO
    5  PREVENT  MOTORISTS  FROM ENTERING STATE CONTROLLED HIGHWAYS IN THE WRONG
    6  DIRECTION. THE COMMISSIONER  SHALL  PROMULGATE  RULES,  REGULATIONS  AND
    7  REQUIREMENTS:
    8    A. ESTABLISHING THE NUMBER OF TRAFFIC SPIKE UNITS TO BE USED; AND
    9    B. ESTABLISHING THE PLACEMENT AND USE OF SUCH UNITS.
   10    2. THE COMMISSIONER IS AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED TO PROMULGATE ANY OTHER
   11  RULES AND REGULATIONS NECESSARY FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROVISIONS
   12  OF THIS SECTION.
   13    S 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
   14  it shall have become a law.
