STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 9155 IN ASSEMBLY February 8, 2024 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. MAGNARELLI -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to including red cross vehicles as authorized emergency vehicles The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 101 of the vehicle and traffic law, as amended by 2 chapter 496 of the laws of 2021, is amended to read as follows: 3 § 101. Authorized emergency vehicle. Every ambulance, police vehicle 4 or bicycle, correction vehicle, fire vehicle, civil defense emergency 5 vehicle, emergency ambulance service vehicle, blood delivery vehicle, 6 human organ delivery vehicle, red cross vehicle, county emergency 7 medical services vehicle, environmental emergency response vehicle, 8 sanitation patrol vehicle, hazardous materials emergency vehicle and 9 ordnance disposal vehicle of the armed forces of the United States. 10 § 2. The vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new section 11 117-f to read as follows: 12 § 117-f. Red cross vehicle. Any vehicle which is owned or leased and 13 operated by the American national red cross, or any chapter or branch 14 thereof, and equipped and clearly marked as a red cross vehicle. No 15 operator of a red cross vehicle shall exercise the privileges set forth 16 in section eleven hundred four of this chapter. 17 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
