Senate Resolution No. 2434 BY: Senator KAPLAN CONGRATULATING Jesse T. Ryan upon the occasion of receiving the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout, the most prestigious of Scouting honors, on May 22, 2022 WHEREAS, Jesse T. Ryan, through his diligence and rigorous efforts, has achieved Scouting's highest and most prestigious rank, Eagle Scout; the Eagle Court of Honor ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at The Albertson Hook & Ladder, Engine & Hose, Company No. 1, Albertson, New York; and WHEREAS, Jesse T. Ryan is a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 201, of Herricks, New York; and WHEREAS, Jesse T. Ryan started his scouting journey as a Tiger Scout at Pack 202 in 2010, earning the Arrow of Light and crossing over to Troop 201 with 13 of his Denton pack-mates in 2015; he was Patrol Leader of the Alligator Patrol for two years before becoming Bugler (9th grade), Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (10th grade), and Senior Patrol Leader (11th grade); and WHEREAS, Jesse T. Ryan was Crew Leader of a wintertime Out-Island Adventure at Florida Sea Base in 2018 and Wilderness Pledge Guia (guide) on a Philmont trek in 2019, returning for a second Philmont adventure 2021; along the way, he earned 35 merit badges as well as BSA Lifeguard, Kayaking BSA, and Snorkeling BSA; he has helped to advance the troop's culinary adventures, supporting cooking challenges that expanded patrol menus on camping trips; and WHEREAS, America has achieved her greatest heights of glory through the dedication, determination and tireless efforts of the outstanding citizens of this Nation; and WHEREAS, It is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain her glory; and WHEREAS, Boy Scouts of America and its members are dedicated to the development of character and leadership in the youth of this Nation; the Boy Scouts of America also remind you about the importance of conservation and our environment; and WHEREAS, The highest achievement of leadership in Scouting, earned by approximately five percent of all Boy Scouts, is the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout; and WHEREAS, This outstanding young man has been involved in Scouting for many years, has lived up to Scouting's ideals and has attained all of the necessary achievements, including completion of a community service project, which was successfully planned, developed and executed; and WHEREAS, For his Eagle Project, Jesse T. Ryan built and installed four bat houses to help control the mosquito population at the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter in Port Washington; he also installed a 20-foot flagpole and raised money for his project by building and selling bat houses to members of the community; and WHEREAS, This young man's dedication to the safety and well-being of the citizens of Herricks is represented through his project and demonstrates his devotion to both community and commitment to others; and WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this Eagle Scout now stands honorably, with just pride in his accomplishments and in excited anticipation of future challenges; and WHEREAS, Jesse T. Ryan's perseverance in rising through the ranks to Eagle Scout is a strong indication of his ability to master difficult tasks; his accomplishment will enable him to emerge as a leader, fully equipped to meet the challenges of today's complex society; and WHEREAS, This new Eagle Scout is a credit to his family, his school, his community, his State and his Nation, and no doubt his future will be filled with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in recognition of the significance of this meritorious achievement, to congratulate and honor Jesse T. Ryan on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Jesse T. Ryan.
