Assembly Resolution No. 717 BY: M. of A. Lupardo CONGRATULATING Superintendent Allen D. Buyck upon the occasion of his retirement after many years of dedicated service to Broome-Tioga BOCES WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those outstanding educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have been instrumental in developing character and academic excellence in the young people of New York State; and WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled; its history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its educational professionals and the students they inspire; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Allen D. Buyck upon the occasion of his retirement after many years of dedicated service to Broome-Tioga BOCES to be celebrated with an employee celebration on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in Binghamton, New York, as well as a public dinner on Friday, May 20, 2022 at The McKinley in Endicott, New York; and WHEREAS, The future success of our State and Nation is dependent upon individuals such as Allen D. Buyck, who have dedicated their lives nurturing our most precious resource, our youth; and WHEREAS, Allen D. Buyck began his illustrious career with Broome-Tioga BOCES in 2002, as the Chief Operating Officer; he climbed the ranks to become Deputy Superintendent in 2007, before his promotion in 2008 to District Superintendent, the esteemed position from which he will retire; and WHEREAS, Prior to joining BOCES, Allen D. Buyck was the Plant General Manager at International Flex Technologies in Endicott, from 1999 until 2002; in addition, his background includes 20 years working for IBM, where he held several senior management positions; and WHEREAS, A native of Binghamton and a graduate of Maine-Endwell High School, Allen D. Buyck holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Syracuse University, a Master of Business Administration degree from Binghamton University and a Master of Science degree in Engineering Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; and WHEREAS, Furthermore, he completed his Educational Administration requirements at SUNY Cortland and received his SDA certification in September of 2006; and WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his community, Allen D. Buyck serves on several local boards, including the Broome United Way, Workforce Investment Board, and WSKG; and WHEREAS, The Binghamton community is indeed fortunate and blessed to have had such a dedicated and respected educational leader; his wisdom and contributions reached into every classroom, truly making a difference in the lives of those lucky enough to have worked with him; and WHEREAS, A significant contributor to education in New York State, Allen D. Buyck has continually demonstrated an impressive dedication, an unparalleled devotion and an unremitting enthusiasm for the quality of the educational programs and opportunities offered at Broome-Tioga BOCES for the benefit of its faculty and students, as well as for the entire community; and WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 42 years, Jody, and their two children, James and Megan (Victor), as well as two grandchildren, Ella and Amelia, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his many achievements; and WHEREAS, In completing his service as District Superintendent, Allen D. Buyck leaves behind more than mere bricks and mortar; he leaves behind a legacy to the students of Broome-Tioga BOCES and to the residents of the community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Allen D. Buyck upon the occasion of his retirement, and to wish him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Allen D. Buyck.
