         printed to be committed to the Committee on Education
       AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to courses of instruction
         in tourette syndrome
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section  804-e
    2  to read as follows:
    3    S  804-E.  INSTRUCTION  IN TOURETTE SYNDROME.   1. THE COMMISSIONER IS
    4  HEREBY DIRECTED TO PROVIDE AND PRESENT A COURSE OF INSTRUCTION IN  TOUR-
    5  ETTE SYNDROME FOR USE IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS OF
    6  THE STATE.
    7    2.  THE  BOARD, TRUSTEES, PRINCIPAL OR OTHER PERSON IN CHARGE OF EVERY
    8  PUBLIC, PRIVATE AND PAROCHIAL ELEMENTARY AND  SECONDARY  SCHOOL  IN  THE
    9  STATE  SHALL ARRANGE FOR SUCH COURSE OF INSTRUCTION IN EVERY SUCH SCHOOL
   10  UNDER ITS OR HIS OR HER CONTROL OR DIRECTION.
   11    S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of August next succeeding
   12  the date on which it shall have become a law;  provided,  however,  that
   13  any rules or regulations necessary for the timely implementation of this
   14  act on its effective date shall be promulgated on or before such date.
